Preparations for the World Conference on Terraced Landscapes and Cultures

07.10.2011,

Dear friends in Italy,

yesterday we attended the meeting of the organising committee of the World Conference 2013 and I shall send a summary as the 5th circular.
The academic centers interested in joining the EU proposal are the Center Bartolome de las Casas from Cusco, the Group Environment and Society of the Catholic University, the CITPA represented by Hilda
Araujo, who is the active force her for the World Conference together with her husband John Earls from the Catholic University, the Cusichaca Trust of Ann Kendall. We have no reply yet from the Agrarian
University La Molina in Lima. Do you need a specific information to write the proposal?

Maruja and myself will cooperate with the proposal in 2 ways:
participatory methods to enhance the voice of the farmers and establish the intercultural dialogue of all actors, and facilitation methods to create a synergy of the people involved in the proposal.
Hopefully you also will be able to include a budget in the proposal for our cooperation.

A quick issue: On November 10th the members of the organising committee are convening to a one day seminar about the Inventory of Terraced Landscapes in Peru, which is about the inventory itself and also about the methodology of the inventory. Based on this we will be able to decide on case studies and its methodology, which includes identification of Experienced farmers, the preparation of the field trips and recovery of terraced landscapes and cultures based on indigenous knowledge.

Our planning workshop for the World Conference will be held in Lima on January 25th, after which we shall be able to send out the pre-announcement and also establish the website of the Peru Section.
I inform you as if you think you may be able to attend the meeting on inventories, or the planning workshop in January, you are most welcome to join. We do not have the funds right now to finance a
person, but if you see a possibility for funds, please proceed.

All the best, Timmi Tillmann
